HELP SECTION:

WeatherCall PLUS lets you identify areas of concern and draw a polygon; then, record a message and compose a text message that is sent ONLY to those WeatherCall subscribers whose registered addresses lie within the polygon.

Here is an outline of the menu options at the bottom of the screen:

NEW ALERT

This is the default option that appears when the app is first launched. To begin, give your alert a name; the app prefills a prefix in the format YYYYMMDD_HHMM, where YYYY is year, MM is month and DD is day. HH is hour in 24 hour format and MM is minutes.

Once a name has been entered, you can choose to associate this alert with a new polygon or one previously created. See the Polygon help section for more detail about creating polygons.

After drawing a polygon, you have the option of creating a text message and/or recording an audio to accompany the polygon.

When entering the text message, note that there is a limit to the number of characters allowed. If you leave the text message field blank, you will only send an audio recording.

You can choose to create a new audio recording or use one previously created. See the Audio help section for information about making recordings. If you don’t make a recording, only a text message will be sent.

Once all components have been created, click on the ‘Send Test’ button. Enter up to five (5) numbers that will receive the calls and texts. Then click on ‘Send Test’.

A confirmation screen will appear. When you select ‘Confirm’, the calls and texts will be sent and a confirmation dialog pop-up box will appear. Click ‘OK’ to remove the box.

Once an alert has been sent, the polygon, text and audio recording are archived and appear in the Alert History tab.

After composing an alert, you also have the option of selecting Send. Doing so creates a message indicating how many phone and text subscribers lie within the polygon you’ve drawn. Note that this can take a while to process depending on how large you draw the polygon and in what part of the country it’s drawn.

Also, after creating an alert, you can select Save, which moves the alert into the Alert History, but does not send anything. See Alert History help section to learn how to send a Saved alert.

POLYGONS

Once selected, you are shown a map of the U.S. with current radar. See the Account tab to learn how to create a default map view that appears.
